Coinbase has retained its dominant position as the largest crypto exchange (CEX) in the United States, with a 76.2% market share. The CoinGecko report shows that Coinbase has been the main CEX in the U.S. since March 2022. Binance.US follows in second place, with a 8.3% share and Crypto.com follows behind with a 6% share. Other leading exchanges include Kraken and Gemini with a shared 10% market share. The SEC issued a Wells notice to Coinbase in March, warning it of an enforcement action against its main trading platform, Coinbase Prime and Coinbase Wallet. Coinbase responded positively to stand by its legal processes, but the notice remains in contention with regards to the exchange's share in the U.S. market.
