The long awaited Bedrock upgrade on Optimism, an Ethereum based Layer-2 scaling platform, has finally been approved by Token House, the body governing the network. The upgrade will feature unprecedented modularity, simplicity and Ethereum parity, drastically improving performance and security. The vote saw the highest voter turnout ever in Optimism Governance history, showing the true success of the project. Despite this, the upgrade has unfortunately been delayed due to some mid-level bugs detected during the process.

The bugs, which do not affect bridged assets across the network, will require some minor tweaks to avoid security vulnerabilities in the future. Optimism has been working around the clock to detect these bugs and does not expect any major delays. Ahead of the upgrade taking place, the protocol will announce the upgrade date at least three weeks in advance. This will be done through tweets, document updates and individual meetings with node vendors.

The Bedrock upgrade has long been the subject of much interest and anticipation. After many delays and postponements, the project was initially expected to launch at the start of 2022. However, due to the recent market events, this timeline has been postponed.

The upgrade plans to be the foundation on which the network will stand the test of time and prepare for a multi-chain future. This is revolutionary news as Bedrock also makes Optimism the first Decentralized EVM Compilation. The entire network is looking forward to the upgrade and investors should research widely before investing in the project.
