Recently, legislation was proposed in Congress linking cryptocurrency to renewable energy. At the hearing, Courtney Dentlinger, the former head of Economic Development Office in Nebraska, testified on the benefits of Bitcoin mining specifically. Dentlinger noted that tax revenues from crypto businesses like mining for property taxes help sustaining infrastructure and maintain quality of life for Nebraska inhabitants. She also underscored that Bitcoin mining yields considerable taxes and brings high paying jobs.

The state of Nebraska has enough capacity for mining operations, which also have potentially low carbon footprints thanks to the use of clean energy technology. As per local reports, a single mining facility in Nebraska brought $1.6 million in state sales taxes in only twelve months and $3.8 million to local inspectors. These revenues maintain and even improve the infrastructure, allowing other businesses to thrive in the region.

Finally, it was discussed that the presence of the crypto companies drives the growth of an integrated resource plan that motivates the development of clean energy technologies and contributes to reducing the carbon footprint of operations. Additionally, Dentlinger mentioned that customers are open to the idea of hosting a crypto business due to the tax benefits and good-paying jobs. All of these features, combined with the renewable energy sources, demonstrate that this type of industry is highly suitable for Nebraska and other state economies.
