ConsenSys is celebrating the summer 2021 upgrade of Ethereum with the launch of a free Non-Fungible Token (NFT) collection. The launch of the 'Regenesis' collection will be on April 12 and will run for 72 hours. Commemorative edition of the NFTs will be airdropped to Ethereum core developers, researchers and client teams while the open edition will be accessible to all Web3 wallet users. Transactions will be conducted via individual MetaMask wallets with miners paying the sole expense of petrol cost associated with the transactions.

The first set of NFTs in the Regenesis collection was the commemorative one that was issued to the Ethereum core developers as an appreciation for their contribution towards building a more secure, sustainable and scalable Ethereum. The second batch of NFTs was the open edition that anyone with a Web3 wallet could manufacture. The open edition of Regenesis had around 327,600 mints.

The collection is also inextricably linked to the origin of 'Proof Of Stake' Ethereum since it holds one of the earliest NFTs issued on Block 1. This launch follows the March 28th public testnet of a zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM). Initially a private beta version available to a hundred people, it is now open to anyone who is interested.

The collection is an important milestone in the further development of Ethereum. As of April 2021, the Merger is scheduled to officially launch, allowing the use of posE9, which would be the first of many updates to the Ethereum network. These improvements will make Ethereum more secure, scalable and efficient in its use of computation, electricity and data storage.

The Regenesis Collection is an important reminder of what the Ethereum network has achieved so far and how far it can go. It also serves as a tribute to all the Ethereum Core Devs and others who have worked tirelessly to maintain, secure and scale the network. Therefore, it is essential that investors approach Ethereum-related investments with necessary due diligence.
