Chinese AI lab DeepSeek has released a new family of open-source multimodal AI models called Janus Pro. The models, ranging from 1 billion to 7 billion parameters, reportedly outperform OpenAI's DALL-E 3 on industry benchmarks. The largest version, Janus Pro 7B, surpasses other leading models on benchmarks such as GenEval and DPG-Bench. DeepSeek's Janus Pro model uses a "novel autoregressive framework" that allows it to analyze and generate images at a high resolution. The model is highly versatile but may not replace specialized models in specific tasks. Janus Pro is available for free download on the Huggingface platform.
