Tether, the largest stablecoin issuer, has minted an additional $1 billion worth of USDT on the Tron network in the past 11 hours, bringing its total minted tokens this year to 3 billion. Meanwhile, Circle has minted 250 million USDC on the Solana network. Tether's total supply of USDT now exceeds $140 billion, with most of it on Ethereum and Tron. Tether also reported $13.7 billion in profits for 2024 and $45 billion in USDT issuance for the year. The company has reached 400 million users globally and holds $7 billion in excess stablecoin reserves. Circle has resumed USDC minting on Solana and continues to meet market demand for its stablecoin. Journalist Eleanor Terrett reported that Tether is working with U.S. lawmakers on stablecoin regulation and has become a major holder of U.S. debt. Congress is developing legislation on stablecoins, and Tether is engaged in discussions on the proposed regulations.
