A major bug has been discovered in the Bitcoin Lightning Network, causing panic among users. The vulnerability allows hackers to manipulate the payment state of Lightning invoices and drain funds remotely. Satoshi Labs co-founder, Pavol Rusnak, also raised concerns about the bug. To address the issue, newly released node software, LND 0.18.5 and LITD 0.14.1, has been launched to patch the vulnerability. However, many LND nodes are still vulnerable as they have not been updated yet. Lightning developers have advised users to upgrade to the latest version to protect against the exploit.
