Cyprus police have issued a warning about an increase in SMS scams targeting crypto investors. Scammers are impersonating the Binance crypto exchange and sending mass text messages claiming that unauthorized login attempts have been detected on users' Binance profiles. The messages instruct recipients to call a phone number in order to trick them into revealing their login details and account access. Police have confirmed that these messages are fake and are advising people not to respond or interact with the sender. Binance has not yet made a statement about the matter. ScamSniffer data shows that phishing scams stole over $10.2 million in crypto from more than 9,000 victims in January. While there has been a decline in such scams, there has been a surge in Telegram "Fake Safeguard" scams, with over 300 fake accounts appearing daily.
