Russia claims that it can reconnect to the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT), but questions the relevance of the system as digital finance evolves. Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets, stated that Russia's financial infrastructure is prepared for reconnection if necessary, but alternative systems should also be developed. Aksakov believes that SWIFT is a dying technology and that it must either evolve or become obsolete. Russia has strengthened its domestic financial messaging system and other BRICS nations are also working on alternative financial systems to reduce dependence on the U.S. dollar and Western-controlled networks. This shift is reshaping global transaction systems and reinforcing financial independence.
