Tesla CEO Elon Musk and US Senator John Fetterman had a heated exchange on social media regarding claims that the Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E) could access private taxpayer data. Fetterman shared a report alleging this, to which Musk responded by pointing out discrepancies in the US Social Security Administration's records. Musk argued that these issues pose a significant problem, with around 21 million people listed as "alive" in the database who are over 100 years old. The discussion also touched on the fiscal concerns surrounding Social Security spending and improper payments. The US Treasury has now implemented a new policy mandating the use of Treasury Access Symbols for federal payments, and there are reports of D.O.G.E officials potentially gaining access to taxpayer data from the Internal Revenue Service.
