The acting head of the US Social Security Administration (SSA), Michelle King, has resigned following a dispute with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). DOGE was seeking access to sensitive government records, including data outlining the ages of American citizens. Since President Trump took office, there have been several resignations related to DOGE's efforts to gain access to confidential data. Elon Musk has been involved in the situation, raising concerns over potential fraud within the Social Security program. The White House has stated that Musk's role is solely to identify and combat fraud, and he does not hold any formal decision-making authority within the government. In response, a coalition of 14 states has filed a lawsuit against Musk and President Trump challenging the constitutionality of DOGE's authority.
