In a recent response on X, Ripple CTO David Schwartz clarified the main difference between the supply dynamics of XRP and Bitcoin. He explained that when measured in common units, Bitcoin has a larger supply than XRP, but this is because BTC is a larger unit of value. Schwartz acknowledged that while there are similarities and differences between the two cryptocurrencies, comparing their supplies might be misleading. XRP has a maximum supply of 100 billion, while Bitcoin has a pegged supply of 21 million coins. Currently, Bitcoin's supply remains higher than XRP in dollar terms. Schwartz also mentioned that the development of XRP was aimed at creating a more sustainable digital asset exclusively for payments, while Bitcoin was launched earlier in 2009.
