Elon Musk, the public leader of the US Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.), has expressed concern about the US national gold storage facility, Fort Knox, and suggested that the US gold reserve might be missing. Musk's tweet prompted Michael Saylor, the co-founder of Bitcoin-focused company Strategy, to propose creating a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve for the US instead. Musk questioned whether the gold is still in Fort Knox and stated that the American public deserves to know if it's still there. In response to Musk's tweets, Saylor commented, "Bitcoin fixes this." Donald Trump had previously mentioned the possibility of creating a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve during his election campaign.
