South Korea's Financial Services Commission (FSC) is set to announce possible sanctions against cryptocurrency exchange Upbit for not meeting customer verification requirements to prevent money laundering. The FSC's Chairman assured the public that the review process would soon be completed, despite it taking longer than expected due to multiple input gathering meetings. The FSC also plans to lift the ban on institutional cryptocurrency trading and introduce new guidelines to prevent market manipulation. Organizations such as universities and charities will be allowed to sell crypto donations from the second half of 2025.
