Bank of New York Mellon (BK) has reported that it currently holds over $13 million worth of shares in Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The bank's holdings include shares in WisdomTree Bitcoin Fund (BTCW) and BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT). JPMorgan Chase also holds BTC ETF shares, while Goldman Sachs holds significant amounts of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF shares. BTC and ETH-based ETFs were approved by the SEC in 2024. However, regulations currently limit the ability of banks to own and trade cryptocurrencies directly.
