Optimism Mainnet is taking a major step forward with the approval of the Bedrock upgrade. The Bedrock update promises to bring followers of the protocol unprecedented modularity and Ethereum parity, resulting in improved performance and security. This major upgrade of the network is also the base for Optimism to become the first decentralized EVM compilation. The upgrade process was put to a vote, making it the highest voter turnout for an OP Governance proposal.

In preparation for the Bedrock version V2, a hard-fork of Regolith was conducted on the Optimism Goerli network. This was followed by a two-week trial period to ensure network stability. Upon completing this test, the Optimism Foundation will announce the upgrade date at least three weeks after release. To avoid any delay, the upgrade key-less activation procedure will be used, allowing users to upgrade at specified times rather than at a certain block height.

Optimism Mainnet's Bedrock upgrade provides users with a secure, research-backed approach to blockchain adventure. With its Ethereum parity, users can continue to benefit from its lightning fast transaction processing speed, along with its improved performance and security added by the Bedrock update.
