The Jiangsu High Court of China has ruled that overseas cryptocurrency investments are not protected by Chinese law. In a specific case, a Singaporean investor, Pan, lost a legal battle against his Chinese partner, Tian, over an investment in a blockchain project called "MFA Blockchain." Pan had invested 15.74 million yuan in the project but became concerned when his expected returns did not materialize. Pan took legal action to recover his remaining investment, but the courts ruled against him, stating that the project involved cryptocurrency speculation, which is illegal in China. The courts determined that the cooperation agreement was invalid, and Pan and Tian would have to bear the losses themselves.
