President Donald Trump has nominated lawyer Jonathan Gould to run the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), a key regulatory post that oversees US national banks. Gould, a former senior deputy comptroller and chief counsel at the OCC, briefly worked as the chief legal officer for blockchain technology firm Bitfury. Analysts expect Gould to continue the OCC's efforts to open US banking to crypto firms and allow banks to get more involved with cryptocurrencies. Trump has also nominated Jonathan McKernan to run the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The nominations must be confirmed by the Senate.
