The Arbitrum One blockchain will serve as the core infrastructure for USDT0, a new stablecoin by Tether. The blockchain will utilize the Legacy Mesh solution to connect USDT deployments on various blockchains, including Arbitrum, Ethereum, Tron, and Ton. This will allow users to move USDT across different chains at a lower cost and with better access to liquidity pools. USDT0 aims to eliminate the need for bridging and unlock siloed liquidity. The solution will also enable seamless transfers of USDT to Telegram wallets. The integration of USDT0 will connect $138 billion worth of Tether into a single system, representing 98% of all Tether. Tether's transition to USDT0 began in January. Despite being excluded from the European Union, Tether recorded a $13 billion profit in 2024 and remains the largest stablecoin by market capitalization. Tether's prospects in the United States are optimistic, with President Donald Trump seen as a supporter of dollar-pegged stablecoins and the nomination of Howard Lutnick, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, as the next secretary of commerce, a firm that manages Tether's U.S. Treasury securities.
