Sarawak, one of the largest states in Malaysia, is planning to establish the Sarawak Climate Change Center, a research and development center for climate change that will leverage emerging technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) to address climate-related issues. The center aims to be Southeast Asia's leading hub for climate change research and will focus on climate change mitigation, risk assessment, adaptation programs, and corporate compliance with global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards. The state premier of Sarawak also mentioned the integration of blockchain technology and AI into the center's operations. Meanwhile, the United Nations has recognized Vietnam as a key player in global digital transformation due to its advancements in AI and blockchain technologies. The country leads in regional adoption rates for emerging technologies and has several AI firms and research centers. Vietnam hopes to become a high-income nation and is seeking increased support from the UN in terms of policy assistance, funding, technical support, and capacity building. The country is actively adopting next-generation technologies and has plans to train over one million residents on AI and blockchain.
