FTX creditor activist Sunil Kavuri revealed that some jurisdictions, including China, Russia, Egypt, Nigeria, and Ukraine, are currently not eligible for FTX claim distributions. The bankruptcy trustee is working on finding ways to delegate claim repayments in each jurisdiction. Over 20 countries, including Iran and Saudi Arabia, were excluded from payouts handled by custodial exchanges BitGo and Kraken. Kavuri stated that regulatory hurdles and cross-border payment issues are likely the reasons behind these restrictions. Refunds have started being distributed to FTX creditors on Kraken with claims under $50,000. FTX has recovered between $14.7 billion and $16.5 billion in assets for distribution, and creditors are expected to receive 119% of their allowed claims. FTX has set aside $7 billion for current distributions and aims for a total of $17 billion in refunds. Convenience class creditors could receive payouts by March 4, 2025. Creditors must verify their claims by April 11th to qualify for the next distribution in May, estimated to be between $14.5 billion and $16.3 billion.
