Helium Mobile, a crypto-incentivized cell network provider, has partnered with Movistar, the second-largest carrier service in Mexico, to bring Helium network coverage to 2.3 million Mexicans. Movistar will pay for its subscribers to use Helium coverage and Helium hotspot operators will be rewarded with tokens. This partnership aligns with Helium Mobile's strategy of growing its network in new markets by partnering with existing telecommunications companies. Helium Mobile offers hotspot devices that function as mini cell towers and cellular plans based on its network. The company aims to unseat legacy cellular networks and has also looked to partner with them. The partnership with Movistar will create a hybrid system where subscribers' phones switch between networks based on availability. Helium Mobile plans to sell decentralized physical infrastructure machines in Movistar retail stores as part of the partnership.
