BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, has added the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) to one of its model portfolios. The portfolio includes a 1% to 2% allocation to IBIT, allowing for exposure to alternative assets. BlackRock cited several reasons for the decision, including Bitcoin's potential as a store of value, hedge against the US dollar and political instability, and its role in the transition to digital goods and services. While this is a smaller portfolio, it marks the first time BlackRock has added Bitcoin to any of its models, a significant move considering the firm manages around $130 billion in assets.
