The recent Ask Me Anything session with IOTA co-founder Dominik Schiener focused on the Rebased Protocol and its potential impact on the crypto industry. Schiener explained that the upgrade aims to create a highly technological ecosystem with strong fundamentals, addressing concerns of volatility and uncertainty. The team is working to launch the protocol as soon as possible and is currently finalizing security audits, exchange integration, and engaging with custody providers. The Rebased Protocol will offer staking capabilities with an Annual Percentage Yield (APY) fixed between 10-15%, requiring only 1 IOTA to stake. The protocol will also introduce the Gasless initiative, eliminating the need for a native IOTA token to interact. The ecosystem's flagship projects, Twin and Realize, have successfully transformed supply chain goods into Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and introduced a tokenized investment fund for dividends and use as DeFi collateral. Comparing IOTA to other industry heavyweights, Schiener emphasized IOTA's scalability and utility. The team plans to introduce many small features through protocol versions and hinted at a new consensus mechanism detailed in an upcoming whitepaper. The long-term goal is to build IOTA as a digital infrastructure giant capable of handling millions of transactions per second.
