HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd. is building a 100 MW hydroelectric-powered Bitcoin mining facility in Paraguay. The company plans to increase its mining capacity and raise its Bitcoin mining hashrate to 12.1 EH/s. This initiative follows meetings with Paraguayan President Santiago Peña, and HIVE Digital Technologies expects to generate over $100 million in revenue for Paraguay's national utility. The facility will utilize hydroelectric power from the Itaipu Dam and the company plans to optimize energy use with grid balancing and demand response. HIVE Digital Technologies has also purchased 500 Bitmain S21 Pro Antminers, which will increase its hashrate to 5.6 EH/s once they are delivered. The construction of the mining facility is still subject to final agreements, due diligence, and regulatory approvals.
