SimpleSwap is the first exchange to commit to returning lost funds that were frozen in response to the Terraport hack. Terraport, a platform for staking Terra Classic tokens, experienced a breach which led to the theft of a total of 15.1 billion LUNC, 9.4 million USTC, and 9.1 million TERRA tokens. The exchaged liaised with the investigation team, resulting in SimpleSwap taking the lead to reclaim the funds in question. Following the breach, another senior team member proposed the freezing of $2 million of the assets located on the Terra Classic chain, however, the community declined the offer. terraport has not revealed the amount of the stolen tokens that SimpleSwap is likely to return. ReXx, a prominent Terra Classic community member, was the one who identified that the SimpleSwap platform was being used to move the stolen funds and the SimpleSwap team quickly collaborated with exchanges to freeze and secure the loot. Other exchanges, such as KuCoin, Gate.io, and MEXC Global, also took measures to protect investors by freezing some of the stolen assets deposited on their platforms. With SimpleSwap's initiative, Terraport is one step closer to recovering the lost funds and sending them back to investors.
