The My First Bitcoin program, based in El Salvador and run by John Dennehy, has successfully raised over 1 bitcoin (BTC) from Bitcoin enthusiasts from around the world. In less than three weeks, hundreds of people in countries such as Venezuela, Poland, and Canada sent satoshis (the smallest denomination of bitcoin) over the Lightning Network (LN) to help fund the program. This success was made possible by the matching donation from Bitcoin Beach – a Bitcoin community located in El Zonte on El Salvador’s Pacific Coast. The crowdfunding campaign represents the joint efforts of My First Bitcoin and Bitcoin Beach to spread awareness and educate El Salvadorians about the potential of cryptocurrency.

To date, the My First Bitcoin program has educated over 6,000 El Salvador students. This number will undoubtedly continue to grow, thanks to the 1 BTC raised and Bitcoin Beach’s pledge to match all donations until April 27. This donation shows the community's commitment to positively impacting El Salvador through cryptocurrency use and adoption.

The success of the program is indicative of the growing acceptance of cryptocurrency in El Salvador. Regulation changes were implemented this year, which recognizes bitcoin as legal tender and allows businesses and individuals to transact using cryptocurrency. In addition, thanks to initiatives like Bitcoin Beach, El Salvadorians now have greater financial freedom and access to the global economy.

The collaboration between My First Bitcoin and Bitcoin Beach has demonstrated the great potential of cryptocurrency and its ability to make a difference in people’s lives. The impact of this crowdfunding campaign is tremendous and will undoubtedly help promote cryptocurrency adoption in El Salvador and beyond.
