Tornado Cash developer Alexey Pertsev is set to be released from prison after being granted suspension of his pretrial detention. Pertsev had been in prison since 2022 after being convicted on money laundering charges related to his work on developing Tornado Cash, a coin-mixing service for Ethereum transactions. He is now in the process of appealing his conviction. The release will allow Pertsev's lawyers to fully engage in his defense and prepare for the appeal. His case has been a topic of concern among privacy advocates who believe he was unfairly targeted for simply writing code. Meanwhile, Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm is also facing prosecution for his involvement in facilitating money laundering through the crypto mixer.
