Ripple has scaled back its efforts to promote Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) initiatives in the US, particularly with the US Federal Reserve, during the Trump administration. The company had been pushing for CBDC adoption since 2015 but removed all references to CBDCs from its website after Trump's speech in which he promised to ban any US dollar CBDC. Despite this setback, Ripple has seen success in other countries, including Russia and Japan, in testing their CBDCs on its XRP Ledger technology. Ripple has now shifted its focus to potentially including XRP in a US digital asset stockpile or sovereign wealth fund. Critics of Ripple highlight failures in its XRP technology and its centralized governance over the XRP Ledger as potential obstacles for its use in the US government.
