Ripple executives have mocked Jorge Tenreiro, the demoted lawyer of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), who was leading the agency's crypto enforcement efforts. Ripple's CTO, David Schwartz, jokingly predicted that Tenreiro would become a movie critic, while Ripple's top lawyer, Stuart Alderoty, mocked his reassignment to a seemingly purposeless department. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse suggested Tenreiro could work for Best Buy's tech support. The New York Times reported that the SEC was reducing its crypto enforcement unit, with Tenreiro being mentioned as the top lawyer reassigned to an IT office, which was described as an "unfair demotion." Prior to this, Tenreiro held the position of Chief Litigation Counsel at the SEC. The new SEC administration has been working to overhaul its crypto policy, but it remains uncertain what will happen with ongoing crypto enforcement cases, including Ripple's appeal.
