Ondo Finance, the second-largest tokenized Treasuries issuer, has announced plans to launch its own layer-1 blockchain called Ondo Chain. The blockchain will be designed to connect traditional capital markets with decentralized finance and will meet institutional compliance standards while maintaining transparency and accessibility. Ondo Chain will rely on permissioned validators to verify transactions and ensure accurate financial data. It will also support staking of tokenized real-world assets and native bridging between blockchains for interoperability. The move comes as tokenization, or the creation of digital tokens representing ownership of traditional assets on a blockchain, gains traction globally. The tokenized real-world assets market is projected to grow to trillions of dollars in the coming years. Prominent figures in the financial world, including BlackRock CEO Larry Fink and Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev, have expressed support for tokenized RWAs as the future of financial innovation. Ondo Finance is currently the second-largest issuer of tokenized U.S. Treasuries offerings.
