The National Wine Agency of Georgia has partnered with the Cardano Foundation to implement a blockchain-based traceability program for the Georgian wine industry. The program aims to enhance transparency, protect provenance, and command premium prices for Georgian wines. The initiative, which began with a pilot project in collaboration with Baia's Wine and Scantrust, has now expanded to over 30 wineries in Bolnisi. Each bottle's journey is recorded on the Cardano blockchain, ensuring verifiability and eliminating doubts about authenticity. The program acts as a safeguard against counterfeit wines and provides consumers with access to verified information through a QR code system. The Cardano blockchain meets international commercial standards and aligns with regulations set by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine.
