Hyperweb, a Cosmos-based project, has released its white paper, outlining its aim to create a universal JavaScript virtual machine (HVM) that enables seamless cross-chain smart contract execution. Unlike other projects like Agoric that use JavaScript and additional abstraction layers, Hyperweb intends to be a pure TypeScript ecosystem. The team believes that the current state of Web3 development is unnecessarily complex and fragmented, and aims to simplify the developer experience. Hyperweb's HVM allows developers to write smart contracts in TypeScript, bypassing the learning curve of other programming languages. The project also plans to integrate Ethereum, Solana, and other non-Cosmos chains in the long term. Hyperweb is exploring a proof-of-authority (PoA) model for its chain and aims to address the broken tokenomics of Cosmos chains. The project has already launched a local net for developers and will soon launch a public testnet.
