Bitcoin mining company Bitdeer has acquired a gas-fired power plant in Alberta, Canada, to establish a vertically integrated BTC mining operation. The company plans to build a 99 MW datacenter on the site, with the capacity to scale up to 1 GW. Bitdeer also intends to sell power back to the Alberta grid to stabilize prices during periods of high demand. The company aims to commence site preparation and infrastructure development in Q2 2025 and have the facility fully operational by Q4 2026.
