The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is turning to blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) to combat corruption and fraud. The chief commissioner of MACC, Tan Sri Azam, highlighted the need for the government to leverage emerging technologies to keep pace with increasingly sophisticated criminals. Azam emphasized the use of AI for data analytics and blockchain for immutable transaction records in fighting corruption and detecting fraud patterns. The Malaysian government has been actively promoting blockchain adoption, and it recently integrated blockchain into a digital identity ecosystem. The government is also exploring blockchain and digital asset regulations in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates. Integrating an enterprise blockchain system is crucial for AI to ensure data security and immutability.
