The state of North Carolina has introduced a bill, known as HB 92, which seeks to legalize digital currencies and allow state lawmakers to invest up to 10% of the state's funds into digital assets tied to exchange-traded products. This bill is unique as it was introduced by Rep. Destin Hall, Speaker of the NC House of Representatives, who is considered one of the state's most powerful leaders. The bill is co-sponsored by Representatives Mark Brody and Steve Ross, who have been described as "longtime Bitcoin champions." The bill has been advised by Dan Spuller, Head of Industry Affairs at the Blockchain Association, who states that the process is "moving quickly" and that the right stakeholders are aligning.
