Visa, an undisputed leader in the digital payment technology domain, is looking to further extend its reach by creating a new “ambitious crypto product roadmap”. Cuy Sheffield, Visa's Head of Crypto, took to Twitter Monday to announce the company’s enthusiasm in taking on mainstream adoption of public blockchains and stablecoin payments. The company is also on the hunt for senior software engineers who can help deliver on its vision with experience in Github Copilot and other artificial intelligence (AI) assisted engineering tools. In order to bring the project to fruition, interested software engineers should possess proficiency coding and designing highly scalable backend systems. Knowledge of the Web3 stack is a plus.

The “ambitious crypto product roadmap” comes off the heels of a pause in crypto-related activities at the financial services giant due to uncertainty in the US regulatory environment. The move to hire personnel for the project demonstrates the company’s continued commitments towards making cryptocurrencies for the general public. A senior software engineer, according to the job description, would join the team with a focus in designing and developing distributed ledger technology and protocols.

The development is another sign of the global economy’s movement towards digitization and adoption of blockchain technology. Visa’s entrance into the crypto sector has the potential to bridge the gap between the traditional financial system with the digital economy, as well as offering cryptocurrency users an easy way to spend, save, and store digital assets in a compliant and secure way. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen how the “ambitious crypto product roadmap” will take shape and which blockchain businesses will be enabled in the process.
