Ben Armstrong, popularly known as "BitBoy Crypto", is an influencer who was recently taken to court over an alleged promotion he did for a now-bankrupt crypto exchange FTX. The hearing on Monday, which took place in Miami, featured Armstrong apologising for his absence in court last week and attributing it to a paid fan cruise he was attending in the Bahamas.

The judge presiding the case, Melissa Damian of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, questioned Armstrong regarding threats and his tweet posted from the Bahamas last week. Armstrong defended himself by saying that the tweet was a joke and it shouldn't be taken as any form a harassment or a threat. Apart from that, he denied having worked for FTX, claiming that he had been falsely accused.

Armstrong spoke to the court and expressed his cheerful demeanor to clear his name, although Damian reminded him about his fifth amendment privileges. She also warned him to be careful when it comes to publicly commenting and assured him that any acts of harassment would be considered seriously. She later allowed Armstrong to read a statement in court under oath.

Adam Moskowitz, the lawyer who had taken Armstrong to court, made claims about receiving threatening calls which would be looked into by the FBI. Armstrong rejected the allegation and apologised for his language in emails. He was further requested to tell his supporters to not take part in any threatening behaviour.

Speaking with the media after the hearing, Armstrong said he would take measures to be removed from the lawsuit. He maintained that he had never done any work for FTX and mentioned taking a picture with a pig earlier in the week as an example of what he thought was a disgusting gesture by Moskowitz. He concluded by reiterating his commitment to comply with the court's orders.
