April was a month of highs and lows for the crypto gaming industry. Data firm DappRadar reported that 38% of all crypto transactions were related to gaming and despite a 10% drop in the daily active wallets from the previous month, many gaming networks saw growth and gains. The most popular gaming chain, WAX, home to Splinterlands and Alien Worlds, had activity bolstered by bot activity that was later eliminated by these games in the year. Ethereum sidechain network Polygon rose to second in activity as many projects and gamers moved there in the past month.Sui, which launched its mainnet during the same time, already had 40 games being built on its network and its namesake token appreciated over 3,800% since its ICO. The gaming-oriented network had traction due to an airdrop during the same month, which is believed to be the main reason for a surge in Arbitrum’s user activity of 118%. As web3 gaming finds its footing, it looks like a future of multiple chains might be the way forward in order to meet the needs of gamers as the industry matures.
