The Universal Privacy Alliance (UPA) has appointed Amelia Andersdotter as its interim director. The UPA, formed in 2023, is a coalition of Web3 companies that aim to protect digital privacy and ensure secure online interactions. Andersdotter, a long-time advocate for internet privacy, will focus on strengthening UPA's operations and promoting privacy-focused technologies. The alliance advocates for the "privacy by design" principle and works to prevent personal data from being exploited or monitored. Andersdotter, known for her work opposing the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, plans to expand UPA's focus on educating policymakers, sharing legal resources, and setting up a legal fund to defend privacy rights. The UPA and Andersdotter aim to develop technology that safeguards personal information from surveillance and exploitation.
