Uniswap Labs, the developer of decentralized exchange Uniswap, has announced the development of a new layer-2 network called Unichain. The network, built using technology from Optimism's OP Stack, aims to make transactions faster, cheaper, and more liquid. Unichain is set to launch on a private test network and will be part of the Superchain, a federation of Optimism-affiliated networks. Uniswap Labs plans to bring unique features to the chain, including a trusted execution environment for block building, faster block times of 200-250 milliseconds, and a community validation network. The launch of Unichain aligns with the trend of crypto exchanges developing their own layer-2 networks to address scalability issues on Ethereum.
