The scammers used AI-generated photos and messages to convince Anne of their identity, claiming that Brad Pitt needed money for cancer treatment due to his divorce with Angelina Jolie. Anne realized she was scammed after seeing pictures of Pitt with his actual partner, leading to mocking and trolling from viewers when she shared her story on TV. Similar scams involving Brad Pitt impersonators have been reported in Spain, Canada, and the US, highlighting the growing popularity of such schemes. Artificial intelligence has made it easier for fraudsters to carry out scams, with advancements in deepfake technology and image generation contributing to significant financial losses.
