Check Point Research (CPR) has identified a new threat involving a mobile crypto drainer app on Google Play. The app, disguised as the legitimate WalletConnect tool, targeted users on their mobile devices and managed to steal approximately $70,000 from over 10,000 unsuspecting victims over five months. This is the first instance of a drainer exclusively targeting mobile users, employing advanced social engineering and evasion techniques to avoid detection. The incident highlights the importance of advanced security measures in safeguarding digital assets in the fast-changing decentralized finance landscape.
