Assassin's Creed fans are now able to immerse themselves even further into the world of the historical open-world action series. Ubisoft, the game publisher behind franchises such as Far Cry and Just Dance, partnered with Integral Reality Labs to create Assassin's Creed Smart Collectibles, a project that pairs NFTs with 3D-printed physical items.

The “Digital Soul” NFTs can be used to customize and unlock physical collectibles like a keep safe depicting one of the heroes of the game series suspended within a 3D-printed transparent cube. Owners can select multiple outfits, weapons and poses before their collectible is then printed and shipped. Notably, the NFTs come in a variety of levels of rarity with those of a higher value granting access to greater customization elements for the associated physical collectibles. Once their NFT is claimed, owners can use their smartphones to tap onto the embedded near field communication (NFC) chip in order to view the digital version of the character within the companion app. Here fans will also be able to access exclusive features, such as utility related to the Assassin's Creed Smart Collectibles project. As well as that, 1500 “Piece of Eden” passes will be released providing holders other benefits such as priority access to 3D printing.

This is not the first time that Ubisoft has been involved in Web3 projects. In 2021, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint on PC became the first major video game to release in-game NFT items. NFT-based fantasy soccer game Sorare's spinoff, One Shot League, was also created by the gaming giant, as well as an NFT experiment based on the Rabbids that has provided funds for UNICEF.

This project from Ubisoft and Integral Reality Labs is one that is sure to excite Assassin's Creed fans as they can personalize their physical collectibles and delve deeply into its beloved game series.
