Cardano is on the brink of its Voltaire Era, an important milestone in its roadmap to decentralized governance. Input Output Global (IOG), EMURGO, and the Cardano Foundation have recently announced the selected applicants who will be leading the network's workshops worldwide. The focus of these workshops is to discuss CIP-1694, an on-chain decentralized governance mechanism. These workshops provide an opportunity for network users to influence the network’s development.

The CIP-1694 proposal aims at creating a decentralized and democratic network with a voting system and treasury. Users will have the ability to make their voice heard by stakes and voting rights, therefore promoting a transparent and inclusive community. The workshops, taking place from May to July, will spread in over 20 cities around the world and virtually in over 25 countries. That way, anyone is given the opportunity to participate and exchange ideas with their local Cardano community.

Cardano's founder Charles Hoskinson expressed his enthusiasm with the initiative, calling it an example for the crypto industry on how to execute decentralized management. He also pointed that the workshop candidates signal a huge step towards achieving Voltaire's goal.

So far, the decision to move to on-chain decentralized governance is an important milestone as it improves sustainability, availability, and responsiveness within the Cardano platform. During the upcoming months, the community will be gathering to discuss, debate and strategize on how to make Cardano the best network for its users. Therefore, the Voltaire Era is not only a long-term goal but a proposed reality for the Cardano network.
