The Republican commissioner, Caroline Pham, who recently became the Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), has made significant staff changes, replacing top officials appointed by her Democratic predecessor. These changes will impact the CFTC's oversight of cryptocurrencies, as the agency is expected to have a more prominent role in the field. Harry Jung, a senior policy advisor to Pham, will lead the agency's engagement with the crypto industry and has been appointed as the CFTC's acting chief of staff. Pham expressed gratitude for the departing officials' service and announced that interim staff will assume their roles. The agency's legislative affairs department, which is important for the upcoming crypto bill in Congress, will also see changes. Pham has selected her own team members to key positions, including the acting general counsel, chief of staff, public-affairs director, and head of the legislative office. The stand-in enforcement director will be Briang Young, who previously served in the Department of Justice.
