The Maldives and Estonia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the potential of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), renewable energy, and blockchain technology. The partnership aims to improve the digitization rate of their local economies and is expected to trigger pilot projects using blockchain for government processes. There are rumors that Maldives will use Estonia's expertise to develop a blockchain-based identity platform. Both countries are also focused on improving cybersecurity and integrating AI into their economies. Additionally, Sigma Capital has launched a $100 million fund to support early-stage firms investing in emerging technologies, particularly in the Web3 space. The fund will focus on blockchain infrastructure, decentralized finance, blockchain gaming, and metaverse projects. Up to 100 early-stage companies will receive capital injections over a three-year period, and the fund also plans to complete 10 fund-to-fund allocations. The launch of the fund highlights the UAE's position as a global Web3 hub.
