The governor of the South African Reserve Bank, Lesetja Kganyago, criticized crypto lobbyists at the World Economic Forum in Davos for promoting Bitcoin as a reserve asset for countries. He questioned why Bitcoin was being singled out and emphasized the importance of considering other assets as well. Kganyago also expressed concern about the risk of "regulatory capture" if the crypto industry's extensive lobbying continues. In contrast, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong argued that crypto firms influencing U.S. elections demonstrates the effectiveness of democracy.
