The onchain fees on Ethereum have dropped significantly in 2025, similar to Bitcoin's transfer fees. Currently, a high priority fee on Ethereum stands at 0.924 gwei or $0.05. Last year, the popular blockchain explorer Etherscan updated its gas tracker to include decimal figures as fees fell below 1 qwei. Gwei is used to denote gas fees on the Ethereum blockchain. While fees on Ethereum have decreased, daily transfer activity has remained high, surpassing 1 million transactions consistently. In contrast, Bitcoin has seen a decrease in daily transfers. Ethereum's onchain volume has also diminished over the same period, indicating adjustments within the blockchain protocols and evolving user behaviors. This trend could be a result of market participants refining their strategies or a lack of interest in both Bitcoin and Ethereum.
