Tokyo-based firm Metaplanet Inc. has reached a major milestone by acquiring 0.01% of Bitcoin's total supply, making it one of the top 15 corporate Bitcoin holders globally. Metaplanet recently purchased 68.59 BTC for $6.6 million, bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 2,100 BTC worth over $204 million. The company aims to become one of the largest Bitcoin holders in the world and plans to reach 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by 2026. Metaplanet sees Bitcoin as a hedge against Japan's economic challenges and has used innovative funding methods to finance its Bitcoin acquisitions. The firm's Bitcoin strategy has yielded impressive results, with a 309.8% increase in Q4 2024. Following the announcement, Metaplanet's stock price rose by 2.78%. Other corporations, including Rumble Inc. and Gumi Inc., are also joining the Bitcoin trend by allocating funds to Bitcoin purchases. Strategy remains the leading corporate Bitcoin holder, followed by Mara Holdings and Riot Platforms.
